Frequently asked questions

Historically, a piecer was a textile worker who joined threads and kept looms running smoothly. In pattern-making, designs are built from individual pieces that must fit together accurately. Piecer reflects this: a modern tool for planning and organizing pattern pieces.

All core features are free. No credit card, no trial period. Drawing tools, shape construction, modes, PDF/SVG/DXF export, community sharing, and the fabric node editor are all included. A Pro tier may be introduced later for advanced features.

Any gear you can imagine. Backpacks, hip packs, roll-top bags, harnesses, bike bags, apparel, pouches, tents. If it has panels and seams, Piecer can handle it.

Export to SVG, DXF, or tiled PDF. Print mode generates pages across standard paper sizes so you can print 1:1 patterns at home. Each export includes a cover sheet with pattern info, a materials list (BOM) with fabric yardage, webbing lengths, and hardware counts, plus markings like notches, grain lines, and seam allowances.

Your patterns are stored securely in the cloud and are private by default. We never share personal data. Only your public username is visible on patterns you share.

No. Piecer is built to be approachable whether you're sketching your first pattern or have years of experience.
