Managing pattern pieces, fabrics, and project organization.

Pattern Pieces List​

Viewing All Pieces​

The layer sidebar shows all pattern pieces in your project.

  • List of all shapes/pieces
  • Quick access to any piece
  • Shows piece names
  • Visual hierarchy

Selecting Pieces​

  • Click on piece name to select
  • Selected piece highlights on canvas
  • Properties appear in main sidebar

Reordering Pieces​

  • Drag pieces up/down in list
  • Changes stacking order on canvas
  • Top of list = top layer

Visibility Toggle​

Hide/show individual pieces.

  • Eye icon to toggle visibility
  • Hidden pieces don't export
  • Useful for complex patterns

Fabric Management​

Fabric List​

View all fabrics in your project.

  • Fabric name
  • Color swatch
  • Type/category

Creating Fabrics​

Add new fabric swatches.

  1. Click "Add Fabric"
  2. Enter fabric name
  3. Choose color
  4. Select fabric type

Editing Fabrics​

Modify existing fabrics.

  • Change name
  • Update color
  • Adjust type
  • Delete unused fabrics

Assigning Fabrics to Pieces​

  • Select piece in layers
  • Choose fabric from dropdown
  • Fabric name displays on canvas
  • Visible in material mode

Material Mode​

Toggle Material Preview​

Preview patterns with fabric colors.

  • Button in layer sidebar
  • Also in toolbar
  • Shows fabric colors instead of line colors
  • Better visualization of final project

Material Mode Features​

  • Each piece shows its assigned fabric color
  • Helps visualize color combinations
  • Better visualization of final project
  • Seam allowances still visible
  • Measurements still work

Project Information​

Pattern Name​

Set the name of your pattern project.

  • Displayed in browser tab
  • Used when saving
  • Helps organize multiple projects

Pattern Description​

Add notes about your pattern.

  • Optional description field
  • Useful for complex patterns
  • Shows in community if published

Layer Organization Tips​

  1. Name Your Pieces: Clear names like "Front Left Panel" help navigation
  2. Assign Fabrics Early: Set fabrics to visualize as you work
  3. Use Visibility: Hide reference pieces or completed sections
  4. Material Mode: Toggle on to check color combinations
  5. Reorder Layers: Stack pieces logically for easy selection
